Oredelmondo Christmas gift: 30s Doxa Breguet Silver

Doxa è una delle storiche maison “minori” svizzere d’orologi. Fondata da Georges Ducommun nel 1889, conosce il suo apice negli anni 30, quando i suoi straordinari orologi 8 giorni di carica equipaggiavano le automobili di Ettore Bugatti.

Di quegli anni ’30 e proposta numero 7 dell’iniziativa #oredelmondoXmasGift, è uno straordinario orologio di classe superiore e degno, non a caso, di una magica Bugatti.
La cassa in argento massiccio 935,  in due corpi, dalle generose dimensioni per l’epoca, 22 x 36mm, caratterizzata da una carrure Cintrée,  ha assunto un’emozionante patina data dall’ossidazione dell’argento a contatto con l’ossigeno.

Il quadrante, poi, è un capolavoro che esprime compiutamente l’eleganza e la ricercatezza degli anni 30.
Fondo Argentè-Grenè, minuteria e secondiera “Chemin de Fer”, numeri tipo Breguet in rilievo e dorati al mercurio. Bello e ben curato pure il movimento calibro Doxa su base FHF Fontainemelon, arricchito con castoni dorati.

Completamente originale, si accompagna del suo cinturino nativo e della sua scatola originale.
Anche ad Ettore Bugatti, pensiamo, sarebbe piaciuto.

Oredelmondo Christmas gift: 1957 IWC Caliber 89 Yellow Gold 18k

Iwc “Internationale Watch Company” è uno dei grandi nomi dell’orologeria elvetica ed il calibro 89 è con ogni probabilità il miglior movimento manuale, da polso, che la casa di Schaffhause abbia mai prodotto.

Il calibro 89 è relativamente semplice, si compone di 79 elementi, 12 viti e 17 rubini, ma è molto elegante e perfettamente architettato a cui non mancano soluzioni di gran classe come l’adozione di una spirale Breguet e un’ingegnosa realizzazione dei secondi centrali indiretti, di conseguenza è straordinariamente robusto e preciso nelle sue 18.000 A/h.

Il sesto orologio porposto da Andrea Foffi nel coro dell’iniziativa OredelmondoXmasGift è uno spettacolare International Watch Company in oro giallo 18kt del 1957, circa, in condizioni pari al nuovo.

Meravigliosamente minimalista la cassa a moneta in tre corpi (carrure, lunetta e fondello) da 35,5mm di diametro, mai toccata e con i suoi punzoni perfettamente visibili. All’interno del fondello, rifinito a “perlage”, il celeberrimo “Probus Scafusiae” a garanzia della qualità constuttiva.

Classico, elegante e luminoso il quadrante argentè con indici a rilievo che permette un’immediata lettura dell’ora.
Un grande orologio come nella miglior tradizione svizzero-tedesca.

Iwc “International Watch Company” is one of the greatest names of the ‘Swiss watchmaking and Caliber 89 is probably the best manual movement (for wrist watches) that the House of Schaffhause has ever made.

The 89 caliber is relatively simple, it consists of 79 components, 12 screws and 17 rubies, but it is very elegant and perfectly engineered with its Breguet spring and the ingenious creation of central seconds indirect. In consequence is extraordinarily robust and precise with its 18,000 A/h.

The sixth watch proposed by Andrea Foffi for the “OredelmondoXmasGift” promo, is a spectacular 1957 International Watch Company in 18kt yellow gold, in mint condition.

Wonderfully minimalist the “coin shape”  case in three bodies of 35,5mm diameter, never touched with his punches perfectly visible. Inside the case-back, finished “perlage”, the famous “Probus Scafusiae” as manufacturing quality emblem.

Oredelmondo Christmas gift: 1992 Tudor Ref. 79180 “Big Block” with papers and box

Per lungo tempo Tudor è vissuta della luce riflessa di Rolex, ma da qualche anno il collezionismo degli orologi d’epoca ha affrancato Tudor dalla sorella Maggiore.

Rolex Daytona Ref. 6240, ’60s. Forever young…

Il Rolex Cosmograph Daytona Ref. 6240 si può considerare una sorta di modello sperimentale, una specie di prototipo introdotto per testare i nuovi pulsanti cronografici a vite definiti “millerighe” per la zigrinatura che li caratterizza. E’ il primo Rolex Daytona a mostrare la scritta “Oyster” sul quadrante, in virtù dei nuovi pulsanti e della corona dal diametro più ampio. Fu presentato nel 1965, disponibile solo in acciaio. Fu prodotto fino al 1969 e si stima ne esistano circa 1.700 esemplari.

I primissimi pezzi, come quello che Oredelmondo presenta oggi, sono caratterizzati da un quadrante con la sola denominazione “Cosmograph Daytona” senza la scritta Oyster. Infatti nonostante sia un “Oyster” e quindi con i pulsanti a vite e non a pompa, Rolex non lo ha di fatto riportato ufficialmente sul quadrante nella prima produzione.

Occorre aggiungere che il Rolex Ref. 6240 non fu inizialmente accolto con entusiasmo dalla critica date le proporzioni dei pulsanti che a detta di alcuni clienti “rovinano i polsini delle camicie”. Quante camicie saremmo disposti a buttare per uno di questi splendidi Daytona, oggi? La conseguenza di ciò fu una produzione più limitata ed oggi un valore di mercato molto alto.

Questo esemplare in particolare ha uno splendido quadrante caratterizzato da fondo nero e contatori argento a “scodella” che lo rendono ancora più attraente. Monta il calibro 722T e ha un diametro di 37.5 mm. E’ corredato da un bracciale Oyster rivettato, come da produzione fino al 1967 circa. In seguito il bracciale verrà gradualmente sostituito con il nuovo a maglie ripiegate che accompagnerà il Rolex Cosmograph Daytona Ref. 6240 fino al termine della sua produzione nel 1969.

The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona Ref. 6240 can be considered a kind of experimental model, such a prototype introduced to test the new chronograph screw buttons now dubbed “millerighe” (thousand lines) by collectors. It’s the first Rolex Daytona to show the word “Oyster” on the dial. It was introduced in 1965, only available in steel. It was produced until 1969 in about 1,700 pieces.

The earliest pieces, as one that presents OreDelMondo today, are characterized by a dial with just the strings “Cosmograph” and “Daytona” without the “Oyster” one.

Ironically, the 6240 Daytona is not well received by the market. Its generous proportions are considered not appealing for the taste of the time. In fact, many of its owners complain that the large chronograph pushers and winding crown wear out their shirt cuffs! Who knows how many buyers of the time would today opt for a different choice…

This model in particular has a beautiful black dial features silver and “bowl” counters that make it even more attractive. Powered by a 722T caliber. It’s equipped with a riveted Oyster bracelet, in production until about 1967. Soon after the bracelet will be gradually replaced with the new mesh folded that will accompany the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona Ref. 6240 until the end of its production in 1969.

Market Spots, an incredible Rolex Ref. 1587 Prince Railway Jump Hour

Ginevra, 13 maggio 2012, lotto 459 Antiquorum: “Rolex, Ref. 1587, Jump Hour, Prince Railway, Two-Tone Gold, Chronometer, n.79085, case n.9945, Ref. 1587. Glasgow import marks for 1933-34”.

Questo è senz’altro il Rolex Jump Hour “saltarello” nelle condizioni più incredibili che si sia mai visto in sul mercato. Non solo presenta una cassa meravigliosamente conservata con angoli vivi e numeri ben visibili sul fondello, ma il quadrante a due toni a differenza di molti altri Prince è ancora in perfette condizioni.

L’orologio perfetto per il collezionista esigente era comparso in asta. Cassa bicolore, oro giallo e oro bianco 18k, lucido e satinato. L’art deco si manifesta in tutta la sua essenza in questo splendido orologio testimone intatto della sua epoca, e Oredelmondo.com di Andrea Foffi ce lo presenta.

This is definitely the Rolex Jump Hour “saltarello” in the most amazing condition we’ve ever seen in the market. Not only has a case wonderfully preserved with sharp angles and numbers visible on the back, but the two-tone dial unlike many other Prince is still in perfect condition. The perfect watch for the discerning collector had appeared at auction. Two-tone yellow gold and 18k white gold, polished and brushed.
